Finally! I got invited to Windows Live Mail Beta

December 9, 2005
Well, I have only played for about a half an hour, but already I can tell I love it more than Gmail, and even OWA! I haven’t tried out all the features yet but I do know that for the first time, I think Microsoft has what it takes to Netscape Google. At first I really liked the Gmail Approach to threading emails–it’s something IBM’s reasearch had talked about for years explaining the advantages to useability. But atlas, I like what happens when you start building an Outlook clone on the web. I don’t think anyone mentioned it, but it’s designed similarly, albeit a few less features. It Includes an invisible ribbon of sorts. Layout in General is a bit the same. I can’t wait to get invited to the Office Live beta, but I assume that’s over a year down the line.

I’ll probably have my 360 by then. :O(

Microsoft Gadgets: There’s 100 now, including a Google Search Gadget.

December 8, 2005
As one commenter on Microsoft Gadgets puts it, "Live.com is now complete!" I haven’t seen anything yet that blows the socks off me, but the developer support is showing up, and I’m looking forward to local.live.com which should be out by tomorrow at the latest.

Countdown to Google Calendar

December 5, 2005
Calendar.google.com will launch tomorrow says Erick Schonfeld.

Rumor has it that Google will launch a new online calendar/ events managment service at Esther Dyson’s When 2.0 conference next week. Jeremy Zawodny offers a nice wishlist of features.

I just want a good, shared calendar that can sync up with iCal. It would also be cool if I could publish each specific calendar that I keep (work, home, conferences, soccer schedule) as an RSS feed that gets pushed out every time I update it and that others could subscribe to. Something like Trumba, but free.

Yep, this will take on Zvents it would seem. Also, I’d like to see sharp integration with Outlook. Will have to wait and see. Oh, sorry for the long break there guys, I am working on some crazy stuff at work, I might be applying for my very own patent. I’m very excited!!
